If you would like to live a life filled with fun and joy and and love, then doesn't it makes sense to be spending a good proportion of your time and energy on things that you love, with the people that you adore, wearing clothes that please you that make you feel great about yourself? Doing stuff that's fun, eating delicious food that feeds your soul, listening to music that is uplifting, doing activities that inspire you and so on and so on and so on?!

Out of a lifetime of habit and our perceived pressure and demands on our time, we can spend an inordinate amount of time and energy on things that are time consuming, draining, irritating, annoying, boring and mundane. Through our continued attention to these aspects of our life, Universal Law decrees that get more of the same.

What you focus on you attract, right?

"Milk every moment for all the pleasure you can get from it. When you say, "It is my dominant intent to look for things that feel good today. No matter where I'm going, no matter what I'm doing, no matter who I'm doing it with, it is my dominant intent to look for what I'm wanting to see, to look for things that feel good," and the more you develop the habit of that kind of vibration - the more the Universe understands that that's who you are! And so, the more you have access only to those kinds of things!"

When we complain, agonise, procrastinate, when we talk about it more and more, when we seek out those who have similar' issues', when we spend time with people who do the same, which makes your life seem more dull, these things take even more of our time. We get to the point when we feel overwhelmed by our tasks and it flattens out our very existence.

To keep your vibration high, to be living a life that you COMPLETELY LOVE and to get The Universe sending you a steady stream of stuff to be enjoyed, you will need to have your attention on the things you love! SO, let's get started!

Who are those people you most like to spend time with? What are the activities that you most enjoy (name 100!)? What are the places that you most want to visit? What are the things, or activities that you have always, ALWAYS wanted to do, that you have not yet done (start with 50!)?!! What are the things that truly make your heart sing? What is the music that feeds your soul? What is your idea of absolute bliss? What are the funniest movies, or shows that you have watched?! What are your SECRET ambitions?! What places would you love to visit for a day trip? What places would you like to go to for a weekend, or a short break? What is your FAVOURITE beach? What is your FAVOURITE restaurant? What are your FAVOURITE clothes shops?! If you could jump in the car right now and take a SPONTANEOUS trip for the afternoon, right now, where would you go?!

WHERE IS YOUR FOCUS NOW? If you can make it your dominant intention every day to feel as good as you possibly can, then The will bring you things, people, circumstances and events to match that vibration i.e. it will bring you more and more things, people, circumstances and events that make you FEEL GOOD. WE ARE SO ON TRACK HERE!

1. What could you do today, or tonight that feels fun, magical, or exciting to you?! 2. How could you spend some quality time with yourself today? 3. Think of something you could buy yourself this week, just for fun! 4. What have you got planned in the next week that you are so looking forward to?! 5. Can you remember when you last made a sandcastle?! 6. When are you next seeing someone that you are so excited to spend time with?! 7. When was the last time you made a beautiful gesture of appreciation to someone that you love? 8. When was the last time you bought yourself some flowers? 9. What could you treat yourself to that makes you feel luxurious? 10. Have you ever got up early to watch the sunrise? 11. What special and sumptuous food could you give to yourself?

When you are feeling good (and it does not matter one bit what you might be feeling good about) then you are a match for all kinds of other stuff that also feels good, not just the stuff you are looking at in that moment.

Feeling good puts you in the space of ALLOWING.

When you are in a state of allowing, the stuff that you have been asking for has to come, because that is THE LAW.

OK folks, its time to get back to the basics of how the language of your mind creates the patterns we run in life. The words we use internally and externally have direct impact on what happens.

This topic comes up based on a recent email I received from a past student asking me why they weren't getting what they wanted. My response was simple - what are you focusing on?

Lets go to NLP 101. What you think about creates a chemical reaction. Think happy and happy chemicals are created and secreted in your body. Think angry and angry chemicals are made. Think 'I can' and you get that chemical, think 'I can't'.. and guess what? That's right, those chemicals.

But, it's not just chemicals inside of your body - it is energy outside. You know how you can walk into a room after two people have been arguing and you can literally feel it? It's that energy.

Everything is made up of energy (in school it was called matter). People, desks, plants, houses, trees, even ideas are made up of energy. That energy moves from inside of you to the outside world - with no physical or distance boundaries. You infect the world. Yes, infect. Positive or negatively charged energy is infected into the world.

Lets put a simple example in there: Lets say I was attracted to and interested in going out with a certain guy. My attraction 'vibes' start to infect my life and my world. The 'good' feelings that I have seem to be contagious on many levels - the world looks brighter, people are friendlier, other guys start looking at me... because I have that vibe! I've got all those attraction endorphins running through my body and out into the world.

Now - imagine that I had a negative thought like "he'd never want to go out with me". What happens to those endorphins and that vibe? It dies. It's hard to keep a fire going if you keep putting water on it! Just one little thought and away goes the attraction energy. But, what is it replaced with? Because it is replaced. Its replaced with a 'never go out with me' energy. Inside and out.

Another example: Let's say I want a new car. I think about a new car, imagine myself in the new car, budget for a new car. I'm giving the world a 'give Heidi a new car' energy... and that car is looking for me! Then, BAM - I think "I should put my car in for a service so it will last me longer". The universe spits out the new car vibe and instead gets 'keep car longer'.

Talk about mass confusion! This is also represented a lot of the time by incongruence within a person!

So my answer to the question of why do you sometimes not get what you want? What are you focusing on? It's as simple as that. Unfortunately (and fortunately in some cases), your unconscious mind is unable to process negatives, takes everything seriously, has no sense of irony, humor or sarcasm. It takes what you give it as 100% true. Let quantum physics work for you - focus on WHAT YOU WANT... and enjoy the repercussions!

The 'Law of attraction' is at the very corner stone of positive thinking. It is one of the reasons why positive thinking works so well. In a nutshell it can be explained as:

"You are what you think. You attract what you think; your life is a product of your thought and belief; nothing in the world can change this fact. To alter your life the only course open to you is to alter your thinking."

As described by U.S Anderson author of 'Three Magic Words'.

What he is saying is that whatever thoughts you hold in your mind persistently will eventually appear in your physical world.

Why is that then?

Well that is a good question and there are a few theories. However whatever the reason - it is the law and always works so you might as well use it whether you understand why it works or not.

Think about your own life now. What thoughts do you consistently hold in your mind and think about regularly. Do any of these ring a bell?

'I hate my job. Its too stressful and it tires me out

'I think I'm coming down with a cold.'

'I never have any spare money to me treat my friends and family with'.

I hope it is obvious to see that thoughts like those will inevitably attract the same negative situations into your life. For surely, if you hate your job then you will never be able to see the positive opportunities that it may offer you. If you are so firm in the belief that nothing good could ever come of your job then you are blinded to the potentially positive opportunities it may be offering you and only open to the negative possibilities.

These negative thoughts hold so many people locked in to certain situations and lifestyles. People think they can never escape them. so they never do.

How can we turn this around?

Well, take a few moments just to sit and observe your thoughts. Do you create them? No, I don't think so, but you certainly do have them. Do you decide what thoughts come in to your mind? Again I don't think so, they are more like a constant stream that continuously flows through your mind. We seem to simply latch on to and dwell on the thoughts that we choose.

So what thoughts do you think we should dwell on. The good thoughts or the bad/negative ones. Obviously the good/positive ones. If a negative thought comes in to your mind consciously let it go and replace it with a positive one, if another comes do the same. You will be amazed at how this one simple technique can improve your life as you will no longer be allowing negative thoughts to influence you.

Consciously decide here and now that you are in charge of your thoughts, that you decide what thoughts you dwell on.,, not any other influence...not your friends, colleagues at work or who ever....you are now in charge of your thoughts and your life!

And guess what...thoughts attract similar thoughts. So if you are thinking positively about something then another positive thought will usually follow. Once you start consciously deciding to think positively then it will become a habit and a pattern. You will constantly and automatically start choosing the positive thoughts. It will become a natural thing for you to do.

This is how some people always seem optimistic. Once you have gotten into this positive thinking cycle then those thoughts inevitably attract the positive reality into your physical world.

Here are a few pointers to bear in mind:

You have to constantly think certain thoughts for them to manifest in your life, they don't always happen straight-away. Some do, some don't it depends what they are. You must also think the positive thought as though you are certain that it has already happened with complete faith. Through holding these positive thoughts in your mind sooner or later they will become real in your life.

Finally remember: YOU are in charge of your thoughts nobody else! So use positive thinking and the 'Law of attraction' starting from today.

You see, it only matters what you think about your life. It doesn't matter what others think about your life unless you let what they think dictate your reality. When you 'buy into' what they say about you and your dreams it becomes a part of your own belief.

So are there beliefs you carry about yourself that stemmed from someone else's thoughts or suggestions? When you begin to deconstruct some of the repetitive thoughts you may have about yourself and see that they don't necessarily have to be true, you can begin to change your own repetitive mental patterns you are hanging on to.

When you feel as if you are not worth what you want then you will continue to send out a vibration that says, I can't have what I want because I don't deserve it and that pattern will continue. It always starts within you and how you want to perceive your life.

So take this a step further and ask yourself what you feel about other people's lives? Do you believe they are making wrong decisions and would be much better off just by doing what you might think is right for them? This can be another vibration that will keep others coming into your life who tell you what they think is best for you. That is how the Law of attraction works.

It's not just about your own thoughts that you hold about you, but the thoughts you may have about others and the world in general. If your own thoughts and feelings reflect a negative world and you believe that people are out to hurt you then you will attract just that. It takes not only using your own mind to decide who and what you are but treating others in the manner you want to be treated; about what you think of them as well.

You don't have to agree with everyone about how they see or live life but be accepting and respectful of their views even if it seems totally out of this world. Even if you think you know better respect the other person's ability to create even if they are not creating what you would. And if someone wants advice always propose but never dictate a solution for them. Whether they accept your opinion or not doesn't really matter because it is your life you get to create...not theirs.

We are all here to help one another, not live each other's lives by suggestion. We can offer help and we can take help as well, just always consider if it is what you want in your life. When you're able to get into this kind of vibration the Universe will bring you more peaceful and easy solutions to your own manifestations. You will have more allowance from others and more help in some way for your own life as you begin to see and understand that everything you do with intention will attract back to you. How you see your world and how you take someone else's advice can change your direction. As you focus on what you want and consider what others have to say (as well as keep to your own visions of life) you will begin to manifest a life you truly want.

And what will bring it to you even more joyously and more permanent? Enjoying the process of getting there. Let it unfold before you and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!! Because once you get what you envision, you will think of something else to create. The key to a balanced life of creation is to be present in each moment of life and enjoy life as it unfolds. Strong emotions also include hate, fear, anger and lust. Control your emotions to determine the kind of thing or person you attract. For example, if you fear abuse from a former abuser or that someone else will enter your life and abuse you, the fear draws people with abusive behaviors to you.

Attitude of Gratitude

If you want to draw the best things in life to you, respond with gratitude to what you already have. For example, if you respond to your boss and your job with gratitude, you create the right conditions for you to rise in the company or garner a new job that is better than the one you currently have. The presence of gratitude draws more reasons for you to feel and act grateful.

Power of Speech

According to the Law of attraction, what you speak often and with strong conviction will manifest. Your words reflect what you believe. Examine your words and see what you really believe. If you always complain about not having enough money, for example, then you will never have enough money because you don't believe you can. Instead, speak a positive statement such as, "I am thankful for the financial resources I have. They allow me to pay my bills." With this statement, your focus changes from what you don't have to what you already possess. The positive focus and gratitude you now speak attracts more resources.

Vision Board

Visualize what you want to see in your life. A vision board takes pictures of what you want in your life and gives them a concrete visual representation. For example, if you want your house paid off, create a visual of your deed with "Paid in Full" stamped across it. As you stand in front of the board each day, affirm aloud that what is pictured there will appear in your life. In your mind, see yourself doing the things you would do if this was already true, such as redecorate or remodel with the extra funds you would have at your disposal.

While it is true that money doesn't necessarily lead to happiness, having more of it in our lives does tend to give us the ability to obtain many of the things that will make us happy. Money also relieves many of the biggest stressors that prevent people from being happy - worries about the roof over your head, education, healthcare, etc.

Money, of course, is one of our crucial needs and its exchange is the main way we accomplish what we need to do, but it carries much more freight than simply being a means to an end. Our financial resources can determine not only the quality of our everyday lives, but the level of enjoyment and freedom we experience in every aspect of our lives. A lack of often leads to a lack of power, freedom and options. Increased financial abundance opens our choices up considerably.

With this in mind, it's not too surprising that upon first encounter with the Law of attraction, the first area most choose to work on is their financial .

Why do so many people struggle financially?

In order to answer that question, we need to look at what money really is. Money is more than just a tangible collection of paper and metal objects to which we've assigned a trading value; it also represents the flow of energy through our lives. Most often when people have a lack of money, they also experience lack elsewhere in their lives. Whether that lack affects their relationships, health or inner peace, it is clear that there is a blockage somewhere.

In order to use the Law of attraction to increase the flow of money in your life, you need to first understand where the blockages are in your life, and why they are there in the first place. Most people either don't realize the importance of this step, or they skip it because it makes them feel uncomfortable. Instead, they attempt to place a "bandage over the wound" by focusing on prosperity affirmations and visualizations. They convince themselves that by doing and saying the right things, they will persuade the Law of attraction to deliver a nice big truckload of cash to their doorstep.

Unfortunately, it doesn't usually work like that. What many people fail to understand is that their is already working hand-in-hand with the Law of attraction. Remember that the frequency of our vibrations is affected by our beliefs and emotions. The blockage exists BECAUSE the person's vibrations are not where they need to be to attract what they really want. All the affirmations and focus on money won't do a thing if the underlying blockage isn't removed, because its very existence prevents money (energy) from flowing easily.

How do you know if you are blocking your own abundance?

You will have a constant sense of being blocked, stuck, unable to move beyond a certain point no matter what you do. You will wonder why certain techniques seem to work well for others but don't work for you. You will keep pushing harder and harder, and eventually give up in frustration because it's just not working.

Does this sound familiar? If you suspect that you do have an energy blockage in your life, you need to figure out what is causing it, and find a way to dissolve it.

In order to identify and dissolve inner blockages, you need to answer three questions:

What aspects of my financial situation make me feel uncomfortable?

For some people it might be a mountain of debt; for others it might be rampant disorganization; for still others it might be inadequate income. Ask yourself which situations you usually try to avoid thinking about or looking at - those are the areas in which a blockage exists, and it needs your attention if you want to resolve it. Once you are clear about the aspects of your financial situation that make you feel most uncomfortable, ask yourself:

What do these situations say about the rest of my life?

You see, money problems are NOT just about money! Money can serve as a mirror for passion, love, joy, purpose, courage, or any number of other qualities you may be resisting. Financial abundance or lack usually reveals identical abundance or lack in other areas of your life. Look at your job, your health, your relationships, your (and anything else you can think of), and see if you have blockages there too. Take your time with this exercise, because it is absolutely mind-blowing once you "get it." Once you've discovered correlations between your financial abundance and the other areas of your life, ask yourself:

How can I increase the flow of energy to these areas?

You will definitely want to give this question some deep thought because the answer will vary for everyone. Understand that a blockage simply means stagnation or neglect; an obstruction to the flow of energy. This obstruction can be an unresolved situation, limiting belief, or unproductive habit. It acts as a clog in the plumbing, so little energy can get through

Attention and Action

In order to clear the clog, you need to turn your attention upon it and take action to remove it.

Let's look at a couple of examples:

Blockage: You may have discovered that the aspect of your financial situation that makes you most uncomfortable is the fact that you don't earn enough money. Perhaps you're stuck in a low-paying job and you occasionally consider seeking a better job or starting your own business, but you keep holding back. Why do you think that is? Could it be that you don't feel you deserve to earn more? Poor self-worth could be the blockage that is holding everything up!

Resolution: In order to clear the blockage, you would need to change your belief that you don't deserve to earn more money. This might involve doing some intensive self-esteem work, or learning how to value the contributions you make to the world, or building up the courage to make a move toward something better.

Blockage: You may have realized that your financial records are a mess. You haven't balanced your checkbook in years, and you don't have an organized method for paying bills so you end up paying most of them late and accruing big late fees. This creates a major drain on your finances and can make it seem like you never have enough - but you would if you could better manage what you have!

Resolution: With a little introspection, you may have noticed that you are also terribly disorganized in other areas of your life. You may struggle with time management, or your home may be so cluttered that you can't find what you're looking for. is easy to resolve by simply devoting a set amount of time to it each day. Commit to cleaning up your financial situation by figuring out how much debt you have, how much money you have (balance your checkbook!) - AND doing the same thing in other areas of your life. It may take time to see results, but as you continue to clear blockages by getting organized you will notice an easier flow of energy (and money) through your life.

Your situation might be completely different from those described above, but you can follow the same steps to clear blockages in your life. Here they are in summary form: Figure out what makes you most uncomfortable. Identify correlations with the other areas of your life. Take action to dissolve the blockages.

When you do this on a consistent basis, you will notice that energy (in the form of money, as well as other qualities) will flow through your life much more easily and you will now be able to use the in a much more conscious way.

Can the law of attraction bring you health, wealth, happiness, and just about anything else you desire?

The answer to that question is a great big yes. But don't be fooled. The law of attraction can be a double-edged sword because as the law states: We attract what we think about or we become what we think about.

So what makes it work?

There are 3 parts to the law of attraction. Each one is equally important and none of them work without the other.

Act as if What I mean by that is that you have to act as if you already have what you want. If you want a car, then imagine that you already have it. Take time to think about it, and all of its details. What kind of car is it? Where would you drive it? The key to making this work is to taking some time each day and really putting yourself in a state as if you have already achieved what you want. Be careful with this, because you need to focus on what you want and not on what you don't want. Yes it sounds simple, but very easy to ignore. If you are thinking about how great it would be to get rid of all of this debt, then guess what you are going to get more of. Yup, lots of debt.

Be Grateful This is the secret to making the law work. You need to be grateful for the things that you already have. By putting yourself in a state of happiness and joy, the vibrations you are sending out to the universe are exponentially increasing the speed at which you will receive what you are asking for. This is where people really get stuck. I know that many people are in a bad place, but darkness cannot exist without light, and there is always light. You need to find it and make it the core of your belief. Be grateful for what you have, and you will receive what you want that much faster.

Receive If you are doing the other two steps right, then something is going to happen. I can't tell you what it is, but you will know because you will feel it. This thing that is going to appear in front of you will be an opportunity or a direction, and you need to move forward with it because this direction is what is going to take you to what you are asking for. How will you know if this is what you are supposed to do? Simple, it will feel good. It will feel right, and it will feel like it is bringing you closer to what you want. You have to receive it.

One Last Word The Law of attraction is very powerful. It can make you or it can break you. The best way to make it work for you is to be happy. Live life and attract the things that bring you joy.

The law of attraction is, simplified, the principle that like attracts like. Through setting your personal thoughts and energy to match that which you want, you should attract situations that match what you want. Much is tied to how easily you can put yourself into a particular frame of being that matches, without conflicting energies, the object or situation of your desire.

Things You'll Need Pen Paper

1)Write down, in detail, on a piece of paper what kind of love you desire (friendship, romantic relationships, or other--be specific). Writing things down helps you focus clearly on what you want--knowing exactly what you want is important. After writing down these details, set the paper aside. You can look at it at another time, if you choose, but that may not be necessary.

2)Love yourself. It is important to love yourself, if you want others to love you--like attracts like. According to sixthsense.org, the law of attraction will answer (reward) any emotion you are feeling with the same kind of emotion. Do what you can, whether it be therapy or some other helpful process, to get to a place where you love yourself more.

3)Practice meditation (daily) to learn how to still your mind and bring your attention back, away from negative thoughts, to thoughts and feeling of love. Simply sit for 15 to 20 minutes a day, breathing and focusing on feeling love. According to the Law of attraction, the more you feel love inside, the more you radiate the love that you want, the more love you will attract.

4)Visualize positive loving scenarios until they feel real. What you focus on, you attract; and, according to the website Understand and Use Law of attraction, imagining positive (or negative) is one way to attract these experiences. Visualization is most powerful when it is accompanied by emotion--in other words, dont just create an image without also imagining how you would feel about it when it occurs. Feeling love and joy when visualizing desired situations attracts those feelings back to you. Take a few minutes each day to do this, if possible.

5)Remain patient. This is one of the most difficult parts of implementing the law of attraction; it is natural to want things right now and not have to wait. However, impatience is a negative emotion and can actually slow your progress. When you start feeling impatient, try to distract yourself until the impatient feeling goes away. Focus instead on anything positive you can think of.

Tips & Warnings

Be flexible. Things may happen in ways that you may not expect. In other words, try not to get upset at the minor traffic delay in the morning, or similar events--it is those events that might be putting you in the right situation at the right time to find the love you wish.

The Law of attraction has many skeptics. The skeptics usually assert that it has not yet been proven, scientifically, that human beings have the ability to influence the world in the way Law of attraction proponents claim (by changing feelings and by visualizing desired outcomes, for example).

How often have you found yourself in the same old thinking that gets you no where? Your life feels like constant turmoil. You want to join the neighborhood gym, but the $30.00 per month membership means you will have to scrimp somewhere else in your budget like the Mega Channel Cable TV package you have. Maybe you are limiting your You Time to a daily shower and wonder why you feel stressed all the time. You want to change jobs but there is just no place thats a perfect fit for you, so you stay stuck where you are.

We have read and heard that change begins with within ourself, and its true. Researchers say that we have about 60,000 thoughts swirling around in our heads each and every day. Many of those thoughts are negative coming from our egos, from fear or from past experiences. Your Aunt Lilly said you would never be able to support yourself as an interior decorator. With a thought like that recycling in your brain, guess what you will never be able to support yourself as an interior decorator. Sure, this is just an example, but put your own dream occupation in place of interior decorator. Are you able to make changes in your life and move in the direction of your dreams? Or, have you been unable to move towards that dream because of thoughts like your ego saying its a lot of work and you will be a failure or maybe youre afraid that others will think you are not good enough. Or, maybe you think Aunt Lilly was right. You have the power to change all this.

When you change the thoughts that you carry around with you, you can change your life. Your thoughts are creating your life. Think of yourself as a magnet. If you believe your job is lousy, its lousy. If you believe that your relationships are awesome, they are awesome. If you believe that you are stuck in a life situation, you are stuck. If you believe that you are loved, you are loved. These are truths based on the law of quantum physics and the law of attraction.

You can change your thinking. You do not need to let negative thoughts control your life. Like any good habit, it just takes some time and practice. You need to exercise your mental muscles. Read a book, play a game or attend a class that will work your mental muscles to know you have the ability to change your thinking. For example, here is an exercise for you - take a moment to hear the thoughts in your head before responding. Are they positive thoughts that will move you forward as a loving individual, or are they negative thoughts that will hold you, and the people around you, back from reaching their full potential? For example, your co-worker Bob has just asked you once again to cover for his shift. Your usual response is to just say yes without thinking. You never say No. You just want to please him and get over any conflict. After the fact how do you feel? Do you really want to work for Bob? How did that feel?

Now stop for a moment before you respond to Bobs request. This is your practice leading to good habits. Ask yourself when was the last time you said No to someone, anyone? Why cant you say No? Are you always a compromiser to keep everyone happy except yourself? Think of what is best for you right now. Is it best to help Bob out again, or is it best to help yourself out by not working his shift and following your own plans even if it was to have dinner with yourself. Now practice in your thoughts saying No to Bob. How do you feel? Empowered? If Bob would not take it well, that is not your fault and you cannot take it personally. If you said yes would it be for the right reasons? Perhaps you could use the extra money and Bob knew that. In either case, there is no wrong answer and whatever answer you give, you give from love for yourself and Bob. Now, how did that feel?

Here is another example, when you give a gift are there always conditions and expectations or are you giving only from love? Are you a classic underachiever, or the victim or always expecting the worse to happen? Guess what, that is what will happen until you stop to hear your thoughts before you respond to others. Determine where your thoughts are coming from and change them to respond only from love and in spirit.

Next, practice looking at other people from love. When we focus on another persons negative traits, our thoughts are judgmental. There is no way for us to know that other person unless we live in a science fiction movie and can literally jump into their head. The only way we truly know that person is through our own thoughts. If you only see the negative side of a person, then that is the relationship that exists between you. However, if you change your thoughts to focus on the positive the love in another individual you have changed that relationship just by changing your mind.

See how simple this can be? This year, dont just change your diet. Change your thinking and you can join that gym, move to a different job and say No when you need to. It is February 21, 2011 as I sit here writing this article.I wanted to state the date so I could put into perspective the speed at which the Law of attraction works.But before I go any further, I want to preface this article with a story of how I became fascinated with the Law of attraction and what I have gained from it in just a few short weeks since I began using it to my benefit.

True Story

We were two weeks into the New Year and I had already caved on my main resolution of giving up junk food that is typical of Chicago hot dog stands.I had just finished eating an Italian Beef sandwich smothered in juice and topped with peppers when an old friend of mine pulled up in the parking spot next to me.We talked for a few minutes and I let on about feeling guilty for sneaking out to get this sandwich.He laughed and understood what I was putting myself through but told me that getting the sandwich was inevitable because I was thinking about it and attracted it to me.

At first, I thought I led myself into some philosophical Zen conversation but then my friend told me about the Law of attraction and where he learned it.He told me about this book that has changed his life in every aspect.He's lost nearly 75 pounds, married a wonderful woman, built his dream house, drives his dream car, and has his own successful photography business.These are all great things that happened for him but I was skeptical and told him, they probably would have happened anyway if he put his mind to it.EXACTLY!He exclaimed and then reached into his back seat and pulled out a book for me.It was The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.He told me to take the book and read through it and that it would put things in perspective for me.I thought it was very generous considering that we really weren't that close of friends, but I took it and did as he suggested.

I have heard of the book for several years but never really put much stock into it, that is until now.This book was first published 5 years ago and I can't believe I let so much time pass me without picking up a copy.The book may be short in length, only 198 pages, but it contains wisdom that the most successful people throughout history have enjoyed and this wisdom is put into perspective by some of the greatest modern day teachers.

Law of attraction

So what exactly is the Law of attraction?It's based on a simple statement that -like attracts like,- but even deeper than that, its based on the concept that everything in this universe is constructed of simple energy and all energy vibrates at a certain frequency.

Our thoughts have energy too and when the frequency of our thoughts align with material objects or even other thoughts with the same frequency we attract it to ourselves.For example, in my meeting with my friend he told me that I was thinking about that Italian beef sandwich and I was but I was also thinking about breaking my resolution to get that sandwich and I did.You see, the law of attraction can not discern good or bad, wrong or right, only what is and what is not.

So, in order for me to use the Law of attraction for my benefit I had to change the way I was thinking.If I kept thinking -I'm never going to lose this weight,- or -I'm never going to have enough money,- or -I'll never find happiness,- then guess what?I would never lose weight, never have enough money, and never find happiness.It's as simple as that.Now I make it a habit of telling myself -eat healthy and exercise,- -I have more money than I need,- and -I am happy.-

How it's working for me

Don't get me wrong, it takes time to rewire your thinking. But once you start thinking in the right way you will immediately see results. The universe will listen and you will receive whatever you are attracting. Money, a new car, a desired vacation, a healthy body and mind, it's really up to you and there is no limit.

I have been practicing what I have learned from The Secret for about 6 weeks now and in that time I haven't eaten any junk food and I exercise 5 times a week. I've lost 14 pounds and feel healthy. I tell myself every day that I am healthy and I want to exercise.

Winter is my slow season for work and since I am self employed it means low revenue. But I tell myself every day that I have more than I need and nearly every day for that past several weeks I've gained a new client, my offline and online revenue has grown way more than I ever expected and I'm quite confident that it will all continue to grow.

Also, many weeks ago, my girlfriend and I were in a rut and everything started to feel monotonous and heading downhill. But now that rut has been plowed over and we are doing more things and going more places and feel like our love have been renewed and we are stronger and happier than ever.

Some of you might be thinking, sure all that would have probably happened anyway if you put your mind to it. And I would say. EXACTLY!!!

Could the Law of attraction, that massively popular metaphysical teaching that erupted around the globe after the phenomenal success of the film , have anything to teach us about the phenomenon of addiction? I think so.

Law of attraction teachers such as Esther Hicks and her channeling of the entity as well as Rhonda Byrne who made the film and brought the whole host of present days teachers to the forefront, do one thing very well. Beyond the movie, they repeatedly present the idea that we attract not only what we think about, but more importantly that we attract what we feel strong emotions and desires about. They emphasize that you cant bring in the abundance youre seeking if your thoughts are programmed with negative and limiting beliefs. For example, Abraham will point out that people who talk the most about illness, have the most illness. Its attraction alright: negative attraction. People that are focused on their lack lack of money, relationship, and well-being tend to keep up a cycle of lack because thats what they are looking at, thinking about, obsessing on, or believing to be their bad luck or unchangeable fate.

Anyone who doubts that the simple premise of the Law of attraction, the like attracts like, is real, think of the negative ways we see this played out in the world. Did you ever know someone who says something like, How come every man I get involved with turns out to be an alcoholic or have some other addiction? Well, its likely an unconscious attractor-factor at work in someone who experiences that repeatedly. Perhaps shes an addict too, or a co-dependent just magnetizing to help or reform the next addiction-laden man she meets! Or how about someone that replaces one addiction with another? Its a well-known phenomenon in AA and other 12-Step Programs. Its the reason that particular type of recovery emphasis the need for a spiritual approach to recovery, and why it emphasizes a need to re-program oneself. And its the very thing that turns off folks like Charlie Sheen. But the spiritual approach has in it many similarities to the teachings of the Law of attraction. A complete new way of thinking is needed.

When I got to thinking about some of the parallels to creating a new life, with what in AA parlance is called The Promises where just by thinking differently and doing the right thing life begins to change for the better, I saw how this Secret, which has been around forever but just not well-known on the mass scale it is today, was operating at the heart of a spiritual recovery program from addiction. The Promises refer to a life now lived with ease, intuition and well being, just by unplugging the bad neighborhood that the addicts very way of thinking had become and plugging into personal responsibility and taking certain steps toward honesty and amends.

Because heres the thing that struck me: An alcoholic, a drug addict, a gambling addict, or any other kind of addiction is absolutely focused on LACK when in the grip of addiction. There is always the anxiety, the fear, that there wont be enough. The bottle is getting near empty and there wont be any more! The drugs may run out! The gambler fears running out of money to bet, and the food addict hordes food under the bed in case the food in the fridge runs out. The more the addict focuses on lack, which gets programmed by the addiction, the more lack and fear they experience, going to desperate lengths at times to get the fix needed.

Have you seen the new movie ? Its the story of a designer brain-boosting drug creating a whole new dependency along with the constant fear of lack, of running out. When lead character Eddie Morra (played by Bradley Cooper) is focused on the lack, he becomes very sick and hopeless. The movie leaves unanswered where Morra really goes for success: constant supply or weaned off? Its a typical addiction story, and the laws, as it were, are playing out in the drama.

In recovery, the person is brought around to seeing what they have: they have their life, number one; and health in recovery a life able to be rebuilt. And funny thing: ever notice that when in the grip of the addiction, its amazing how alcoholics attract other alcoholics wherever they go. One woman said to me, I could walk into a room of 500 people. Within minutes I would have zeroed in on the one drunk in the room, and become best friends. Law of attraction. But once the focus is changed, and new life, not lack, is the focus its amazing how an alcoholic will no longer attract other addicts. In fact, theyre no longer very interesting or attractive at all to people in the grip of addictions or codependency. Instead, theyre attracting some really, well, attractive people, places and things. Law of attraction in action.

So yes, the Law of attraction does provide some insight into both the nature of addiction, and the pathway out it: a spiritual path with a mind focused more on what we have than what we dont have; more on whats right and good; and more on loving oneself and doing the right thing from a place of love and appreciation for life. Thank you to those who understand and teach this metaphysical path to the love and happiness humanity was created to experience.

The Law of attraction truly cannot be defined by any single definition. It has to do with energy and a force that's so powerful and so mystifying that words wouldn't do it justice.

Some definitions refer to the law of attraction as karma or the golden rule. You may have heard people say, "you get what you give what goes around, comes around karma do unto others and a host of others.

They're all right.

However, when I'm asked, "What is the Law of attraction?", I like to summarize it in two 3-word phrases: "Like Attracts Like" and "Thoughts Become Things."

Like Attracts Like

Everything in the universe is composed of energy. If you were to take a peek inside your body, you'd see that you're made up of organs. With magnification, you'll see that your organs are made up of tissues. With even more magnification, you'd see that your tissues are made of cells; your cells are made of molecules; and your molecules are made of atoms. You may remember this from science class.

These atoms are made of even smaller 'components' called electrons, neutrons, and protons. Here's where science class got a little fuzzy for me. At the time I learned this, we were taught that the electrons, protons and neutrons were the smallest units of matter and this is where things stopped. What they didn't tell us is that these 'units of matter' are made of energy. More accurately stated, they ARE energy.

So in short, everything is made of energy. The computer you're using, or the newspaper you're reading this in...everything. And what's amazing is that these different energies have their own vibration resonance. For this illustration, we'll call vibration resonance "frequency" just like a radio station frequency.

So as this energy is emitting its frequency, there are other energies that are on the same frequency and they tend to draw towards one another.

If you were to tune your radio to 101.9 you would only be able to hear what's on the 101.9 frequency, which is being emitted from the 101.9 radio tower. It's the same with energy.

Have you ever sat next to someone and you 'just didn't feel right'? There may have been nothing 'wrong' with the person, but for some reason you just felt uncomfortable. It was because at that time, your energy was on a 'different frequency' as the person sitting next to you. Your energies clashed and it made you feel uncomfortable.

You will attract to you what you embody or what you are "like," in other words. If you're gloomy, you'll attract gloomy people. And if you're happy and cheerful, you'll attract happy, cheerful people (or at least, they'll become happy and cheerful because of YOU).

If you feel broke, you'll attract more of being "broke," because it's a match to you, to your energy. And if you feel prosperous, you will attract situations to help you be prosperous.

Thoughts Become Things

The other thing about the Law of attraction is that thoughts really do become things.

This can also be summed up more scientifically by the expression, "Energy is neither created, nor destroyed." So rephrasing the aforementioned statement, "If you put a loving a caring energy into the Universe, that same energy will be returned to you.

So the thoughts (energy) you put out will be returned to you (or 'created' in your reality)

Everything starts as a thought. That computer you're reading this on originated, at its essence, as the thought of Conrad Zeus, who invented the very first working programmable computer in 1941. Others, like Steve Jobs, believed computers could be accessible to anyone in their homes. And Zeus and Jobs began to manifest those realities for themselves before most thought they were "possible."

LA is at the essence of everything that exists today. When you think of something you want AND you believe it can come, you will attract it to you. It will ultimately become your reality. One approach to making your wishes come true is based on a theory called the law of attraction. The law of attraction is a force wherein we attract to ourselves whatever we give our focus, attention or energy to. If you are constantly down on yourself about being out of work, alone and poor, and you believe your thoughts, you will continue to attract more unemployment, loneliness and poverty into your life. Luckily, according to this theory, the reverse is also true. If you focus your mind on achieving your dream job, marrying the person of your desire and being rich, you will attract just that into your life.

Instructions

1)Visualize the wish that you would like to manifest. Close your eyes and make it tangible in your mind's eye. Clearly see yourself in that new car or working at your dream job. You have to believe that you deserve this wish for it to come true.

2)Put your visualization into words by creating an affirmation such as "I am on a great cruise vacation in the Bahamas." You want to express the affirmation in the present. Do not add the word "will" because that implies the future. The affirmation has to be stated in positive terms. Saying "I am no longer alone" is negative. Saying "I am with the woman of my dreams" is positive. Make your affirmation short and specific because the subconscious mind cannot understand long statements. Repeat your affirmations in the morning, right after you get out of bed, and in the evening, before going to sleep. You can also write your affirmations on sticky notes and place them in visible places to remind yourself to repeat them throughout the day. The more often you repeat your affirmations, the faster your wishes will manifest. Involve your emotions by adding emphasis to your affirmations. Repeating them in a monotone, repetitive way will not work as well. You really have to mean what you say.

3)Meditate or use guided meditation CDs to put your mind into the theta brainwave state (see Resources). Your mind naturally goes into this state when you sleep. While in theta your mind is more relaxed and more open to subliminal programming, so it is best to repeat your affirmations once you have been meditating for a while.

4)Act upon the ideas that come to you when stating your affirmations. Repeating affirmations alone will not manifest your wishes; at some point you have to act.

5)Express gratitude for whatever happens to you during the day. Whether it is walking past a garden of flowers or getting a raise at work -- big or small -- express gratitude often by saying "thank you," smiling or bowing at the object of your gratitude. Start a gratitude journal; in it, write down as many things as you can remember at the end of the day to show gratitude for them. In your gratitude journal, write the letters from A to Z. Express something you are grateful for that starts with the letter A and go all the way to Z as fast as you can write. Practice a random act of kindness every day. Look for ways to express genuine praise to people you are close to (family) or people who serve you (grocery store clerk). As often as possible, thank the universe for providing the food, air and water to sustain your life.

Ever since The Secret was exposed on Oprah, millions of people have been attracted to... attraction. The Law of attraction, that is. The phenomenal film and book by Australian producer Rhonda Byrne has gained an increasing share of popular attention, culminating in two recent episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Yet the secret has been around for centuries - and millions of people put it to work in their environments through the ancient practice of feng shui.

Linda Binns, a nationally known expert in feng shui and holistic health, says that feng shui masters have incorporated the Law of attraction into their practice for centuries. We use it all the time in feng shui, she says.

In her recent book, Feng Shui for Your Relationships: Changing Your Environment to Create Better Relationships, Binns writes: The power of feng shui involves making changes 'with intention...' As you work with feng shui and focus on enhancing the energy around you, you will find that you attract positive relationships.

Binns suggests that anyone interested in changing his or her life, whether in terms of wealth, health, professional achievement or relationships, must begin by determining exactly what needs to change. Visualizing the ideal outcome of change is an important step to success, she says. In fact, she advises feng shui clients and students to pause before making any changes in the home or office and set a clear intention. You can't just move your furniture around and wait for something magical to happen. You have to proceed with a specific outcome in mind, she says.

People often don't believe that they already have everything required to live the life they choose, she continues. But feng shui practitioners recognize that we do have all we need. The secret to feng shui, Binns adds, is simply knowing how to maximize the flow of positive energy in the environment in order to help our best lives emerge, once a clear intention is set that helps define what that life will look like.

And what sounds a bit new age is actually a proven scientific phenomenon, based on the physical existence of molecular energy. Binns agrees with the sources quoted in The Secret regarding the fact that energy frequencies are physical manifestations of human intention. I've seen feng shui work wonders in people's lives, she says. But the most successful individuals are the ones who truly know where they want to go and are open to a variety of experiences and paths in reaching that goal.

1. Law of Thinking: thoughts are catalysts, shifting dreams into form. Using thought every second of every day, each of us is the creator of our own life experiences, our own reality. So if we change our thoughts, we change our world.

Expansion happens you in an infinite number of ways; deep thinking, experiencing, mediating, praising, sharing, collaborating, acknowledging, intending, reading, writing, coaching, mentoring forever.

4. Law of attraction: thoughts, feelings, words and actions produce energies which vibrate out from us, then in turn, attract like energies towards us. What we focus on we attract. By paying attention to what is inspiring, positive and affirming, we attract back those same energies in various forms.

5. Law of Responsibility: to experience success, take 100% responsibility for everything in your life, positive or challenging. Give up blaming and complaining. Think. 6. Law of Action: life requires our participation. To manifest on earth we must translate our thoughts into action. Even the smallest action towards our goal counts a conversation had, a compliment given, a form completed, a piece of research filed, a cup of coffee well made, a gathering of like minds, a ticket booked, an article written, and email sent all inspired action whether to further our career, health, relationships or knowledge is increased by the universe under the law of expansion.
